ONE VISION, ONE PURPOSE, ONE FAMILY
The history of Tau Kappa Phi, Inc. is very unique because the "family" was not formed all at one time. We, the members of "The Kappa Family," all had beautiful but separate beginnings. The "family" was started with the founding of Kappa Psi Kappa Fraternity, Inc. on August 17, 2001 in Tallahassee, Florida. The founders of Kappa Psi Kappa had a vision of sisterhood with an organization of dominant lesbians and one for feminine lesbians. On February 20, 2002 at Florida State University Phi Nu Kappa Sorority and Alpha Psi Kappa Fraternity started were formed in Tallahassee, Florida. After the formation of these two organizations there was a meeting of the respective founders to coordinate the constitutional bind between the three organizations. On March 28, 2002 "The Kappa Family" was founded and began working as separate entities, but bound as one family. On April 8, 2002, two founders of Kappa Psi Kappa Fraternity, Inc. started a youth organization, The Kappa Sapphires. The "family" gained further prominence by attaining the Greek Lettered distinction of Tau Kappa Phi on August 13, 2002. To complete "The Kappa Family," Alpha Omega Kappa Fraternity & Kappa Iota Sigma Sorority was founded by members of The Kappa Family. With this, The Kappa Family was complete.
